“The Born Learning trail kits are a wonderful addition to any community. With a little pre-planning and a small installation team, the kits are easy to install and instantly usable. We partnered with the leadership class through our chamber of commerce for their class project. They aimed for raising enough money to install three trails and were so successful, they installed five! Permission was granted without any issues and we now have trails in city parks and school playgrounds. The teams of 6-8 individuals physically installed these trails in under two hours. They are high quality and we anticipate these trails will continue serving our community for many years.”

“We have really been enjoying the signs. They were easy to install. Families, preschools, daycares, the local library, and so many others have been enjoying this great addition to our community. When the weather is nice we see people out on the trail all the time. We enjoyed getting to be creative with the items we painted on the trail and incorporated children’s books, nursery rhymes, and even a Swiss theme to match the heritage of our town. It turned out really great. We have also added outdoor musical instruments to the trail and in the spring will be adding a story trail as well. This is a great place for the community to come play and learn with their children.”

"Installing a Born Learning Trail is an excellent way to utilize the environment to generate thoughtful conversation between a caregiver and child. It most certainly impacts the early childhood learning space and increases the chances of children entering school ready to learn.
The thought of an indoor Born Learning build has always been discussed here at the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago, North-Northwest. In fact, the latest indoor project is one of two in our region. The approach this time was to bring elements found at the park, indoor for children to explore year round.
By way of a grant, received from Zurich Insurance North America, we have secured funding for five Born Learning Trails to go up during the summer of 2016. Multiple locations will be selected. We thought that for the indoor build, that Preservation for Human Dignity would be a perfect place. PHD was chosen due to its phenomenal work in consoling for maternal health issues. Since the completion of the project, the space has served as a morale booster for the PHD staff and a neat attraction for clients as they wait for service."
