About Born Learning Literacy Kits For Volunteers
Reading is the foundation for learning, and yet too many children enter school without even the basic skills they need to learn to read. Research has shown that children learn best when they are engaged and having fun. Designed to make reading interactive and enjoyable for young children while also engaging volunteers, teachers, family members and other adults, United Way has developed Literacy Kits for several children’s books.
Each Kit Was Designed For A Specific Children’s Book And Includes:
- Assembly instructions, supply lists, and templates that volunteers can use to create props, manipulatives, games for each activity.
- A Tips for the Reader Sheet, to be included in each assembled activity kit. This includes the title and author of the book, the themes of the book and the skills that can be developed using the activities as well as the directions for using the contents of the kit.
